Chocolate In Europe
After the Spanish encountered chocolate in 1519, they kept it to themselves for almost 100 years. Only the king, his nobles, and church officials were privileged enough to drink the brew.

Such a delicious secret couldn’t remain hidden forever. By the late 1500s, this popular drink spread throughout Europe and different countries developed their own regional chocolate cuisines.
