ORDER—RODENTIA
FAMILY—Muridae

COMMON NAME—Large Luzon forest rat.

DISTRIBUTION—
Known only from Luzon [Aurora (UPD), Benguet (FMNH)] and Camarines Sur (FSM) provinces].

HABITAT—
Poorly known. Scattered specimens taken in mixed primary and disturbed lowland forest at about 200 m to about 2400 m in montane and mossy forest (Largen, 1985; Musser, 1982c; Rabor, 1955; Sanborn, 1952; Thomas, 1898; Heaney et al., in press).

STATUS—
Uncertain; may be moderately common in primary lowland forest.

NOTE ADDED IN 2005--Recorded at 1,050-1,950 m elevation in Balbalasang, Kalinga Province (Heaney et al. 2004)
