ORDER—RODENTIA
FAMILY—Muridae

COMMON NAME—Palawan soft-furred mountain rat.

DISTRIBUTION—
Palawan Faunal Region; known only from Mt. Mantalingajan, Palawan Island (USNM).

HABITAT—
Unknown, but probably high mountain forest (Musser & Newcomb, 1983; Esselstyn et al, 2004).

STATUS—Poorly
known; probably highly restricted in distribution, but its presumed montane forest habitat is stable. IUCN: Endangered, but probably should be listed as Data Deficient (Esselstyn et al, 2004).
