Rhynchomys isarogensis

ORDER—RODENTIA
FAMILY—Muridae

COMMON NAME—Isarog shrew-rat.

DISTRIBUTION—
Known only from Mt. Isarog, Camarines Sur Province, Luzon (FMNH).

HABITAT—
Primary montane and mossy forest from 1125 m to 1750 m (Balete & Heaney, in press; Heaney et al., in press; Rickart et al., 1991).

STATUS—
Stable, but geographically restricted (Musser and Freeman, 1981) and threatened by logging. IUCN:Vulnerable.

NOTE ADDED IN 2005--Mt. Isarog National Park is not currently threatened by logging, so threat to this species has declined (Balete, pers. comm.).
