The Field Museum has been actively engaged in anthropological research around the world since 1893. As one of the leading authorities on the evolution of human culture in the Americas, The Field Museum has dozens of scientists who work across North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean to better understand the unique and complex development of Indigenous societies of the Americas.

These men and women have participated in a number of groundbreaking studies that are shattering long-held preconceptions about life in the early Americas. Their research has helped shape The Ancient Americas, an exhibition that explains how culture evolves, how people adapt to changing circumstances, and how that process is the same for all cultures.
