Bryan Stuart, Long Kheng, Heng Sovannara, and Steven Platt, all working with the Wildlife Conservation Society Cambodia Programme, have been involved in monitoring the harvest and trade of homalopsines at Tonle Sap Great Lake. Currently, Long Kheng and Heng Sovannara are sampling female Enhydris enhydris from markets on a monthly basis to study reproduction in this species, the most commonly traded species at Tonle Sap.
