Guests of the Bulgarian Archaeological and Anthropological Program at The Field Museum

At the beginning of summer of 2011 The Field Museum was visited by representative of the Bulgarian Consulate General in Chicago. Discussed were the Bulgarian archaeological and anthropological grant opportunities, funded by the America for Bulgaria Foundation (ABF) and administrated by The Field Museum (FM) and the American Research Center in Sofia (ARCS).

Stefka Yovcheva, political officer at the Bulgarian Embassy in Washington D.C., Acting as a Consul at the Bulgarian Consulate General in Chicago in May, 2011, visited The Field Museum to discuss the Bulgarian Archaeological & Anthropological Program at the The Field Museum, funded by the America for Bulgaria Foundation (ABF). She was invited by Mrs. Dilyana Ivanova, ABF Administrative Assistant in the Anthropology Department.  Ms. Yovcheva had lunch with Dr. William Parkinson, Assistant Curator and Director of the Bulgarian Archaeological & Anthropological Program, and Dr. Ryan Williams, Associate Curator and Chair of the Anthropology Department. During her visit, Ms. Youvcheva toured the Anthropology Department facilities on the third floor building, and some of the anthropological and geological exhibitions located  in the public area of The Field Museum.

Mr. Georgi Panayotov, Acting Head of the General  Consulate of Bulgaria in Chicago, and Counselor at the Bulgarian Embassy in Washington, DC,  and his wife Daniela Sirakova, toured The Field Museum on June 22, 2011. Their tour was coordinated by Mrs. Dilyana Ivanova, ABF Administrative Assistant (Anthropology Department). Mr. Panayotov and Mrs Sirakova met with Prof. Dr. Robert D. Martin A. Watson Armour III, Curator of Biological Anthropology. During their visit at The Field Museum the guests from the General Consulate of Bulgaria in Chicago discussed the development of the Bulgarian Archaeological and Anthropological Program, supported by the America for Bulgaria Foundation. Mr. Panayotov and Mrs. Sirakova toured the Anthropology Department facilities on the third floor of the building, and some of the anthropological exhibitions located on the public area of The Field Museum.
