Plan a field trip to The Aztec World and try out classroom and field trip activities from the Educator Guide, take part in student programs, and check out accompanying Harris Educational Loan Materials for an in-depth exploration of Aztec culture and society.
Pre-registration is required for students to visit this new exhibition. Field trips to The Aztec World are FREE for Chicago schools with pre-registration, $4.50 for Illinois schools outside of Chicago with pre-registration, and $17.00 for schools outside of Illinois.

Student Programs
Aztec Mexico: Earth, Water and Sky, Grades 3-5
Available November 10, 2008-April 17, 2009
In this class, students will get an in-depth look at the artistic traditions of the Aztec Empire. Students will travel through The Aztec World exhibition and interpret fantastic displays of history, art, culture, spirit and science. Using examples of Aztec literature, art, and materials, students will examine elements of Aztec life and Mesoamerican society. Meets ILS goals 11, 16, 17.

Aztec: Exploring the Marketplace, Grades 6-8
Available November 10, 2008-April 17, 2009
Students will tour The Aztec World and discover a remarkably unique and artifact-rich exhibition on the history and culture of the Aztecs. Students will also explore a classroom that has been converted into an Aztec marketplace and work in groups to understand the natural environment, government and religion of the Aztecs. Meets ILS goals 11, 16, 17.

Michael Heralda: Aztec Stories, Grades 3-12 Friday, March 6, 2009 at 10:30am
Through a presentation of ancient poetry, narratives, oral tradition stories and ballads, students will learn to sing songs in the Nahuatl language and play with hand-made, indigenous-styled instruments. This program allows students the opportunity for interactive, improvisational participation. Meets ILS goals 18, 26, 27.
