Baseball As America is the first time that cherished treasures from our national pastime have left The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York. With 500 of the Hall of Fames most precious artifacts, this exhibition reveals how baseball mirrors our nations values, struggles, triumphs and aspirations.
Explore the sports patriotic symbolism, examine the baseball rituals that bring us together and trace its evolution from a game to a business. Youll also see artifacts from the Negro leagues and the All-American Girls Professional Baseball Leaguealong with remembrances of players who broke social barriersthat show baseball to be a microcosm for changing attitudes about equality and opportunity.
Balls, gloves, bats, uniforms, baseball cards and advertisements bring baseballs vibrant stories and personalities to life. The exhibition also includes items of special interest to Chicago fansincluding Sammy Sosas record-setting bat, Harry Carays signature glasses, Ryne Sandbergs glove, and a ticket window and bricks from the original Comiskey Park.
