Our National Spirit
Discover how our heritage and national institutions are linked to baseball.
Artifacts include:
Clear Pxl
the game’s most sacred relic, the Doubleday Ball, from baseball’s mythic first game in 1839,
opening day autographed balls thrown by U.S. presidents,
President Roosevelt’s famous “Green Light” letter stating that “it would be best for the country to keep baseball going” during World War II.

Ideals & Injustices
Explore how baseball is a microcosm for changing attitudes about equality and opportunity as you follow the stories of African-American, Jewish, Polish, Latino, Japanese and female players.
Artifacts include:

original 1907 edition of The History of Colored Base Ball, tracing the early roots of organized black baseball,
artifacts from the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League,
Jackie Robinson’s Dodgers jersey.

Rooting for the Team
