Public Outreach: Exhibitions and Education
The Field Museum welcomes more than a million visitors through its doors each year. As both a research institution and an educational organization, the Museum is uniquely equipped to blend science with entertainment.
Our exhibitions and educational programsas enriching as they are funprovide hands-on opportunities to explore the web of life and learn how our actions impact the planet.

Conservation-related Exhibitions
The Museum hosts more than 20 permanent exhibitions dedicated to nature and more than 16 devoted to human culture. Each combines the research of our world-renown scientific staff with award-winning design to educate the public about biodiversity issues that affect us all.
By examining the Earths incredible variety of wildlife, habitats, and cultural customs, these exhibitions reveal the connections that exist between plants, animals, and people.
In addition, the Museum also regularly features temporary exhibitions, such as Pearls and Chocolate, to highlight up-to-the-minute issues that affect our daily life. Through these fascinating and thought-provoking exhibits, visitors can discover the relationships between popular products and biodiversity.

Educational Programs about Biodiversity and Conservation
The Field Museums many educational programs nurture a sense of curiosity and inquiry about how the world works. Field trips, classes, and demonstrations provide visitors of all ages with opportunities to examine and experiment with nature using the tools and techniques of Field Museum scientists.
In addition, the Museum touches countless people beyond the walls of the building through video productions, off-site educational programs, and on-line website resources. Our goal is to equip the public with informed decision-making skills and inspire them to explore, understand, and conserve our planets fragile biodiversity.
