Scientists by Department
For more than a century, scientists from The Field Museum have traveled to remote parts of the world and pored over specimensfrom bird wings and plant fossils to traditional medicines of Asian culturesto learn about the biological diversity of life on Earth.
Back at home in our Museum labs, these men and women use DNA Sequencers, Mass Spectrometers, and other state-of-the-art equipment to diagnose the health of our planets many species and ecosystems.
In addition, our scientists help train undergraduate and graduate students, park rangers, and forest preserve managers in biodiversity research techniques, such as identification and monitoring, which are critical for conservation. They also collaborate in the development of our exhibits and education programsand somehow, these experts still find time to manage our collections of specimens.
