Environmental and Conservation Programs
TThe Field Museums department of Environmental and Conservation Programs (ECP) focuses The Field Museum's collections, scientific research, and educational resources to the immediate needs of conservation at local, national, and international levels.
ECP combines the efforts anthropologists, ecologists, botanists, and zoologists who work together to translate science into action that creates and supports lasting conservation. Through partnerships with research institutions, conservation organizations, local communities, and government agencies, ECP catalyzes science-based action for conservation to ensure the survival of outstanding natural communities.
Areas of Study: ECP has developed a number of initiatives, such as the Rapid Biological Inventories program, the Calumet Environmental Education Program, the Interactive Bird Database, the Natural Products Initiative, and more. The geographic focus of ECP is Latin America and the greater Chicago Region.
