During the month of September, well take a look at how burning fossil fuels like coal and oil increases carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and other gases in the atmosphere.
Scientists believe that these greenhouse gases are causing Earths surface temperature to rise, contributing to global warming. By studying fossil records, Field Museum researchers can predict how these atmospheric changes may affect the diversity and survival of life on Earth.
