The Harris Loan Center:
MAYTree of Life
Your students probably know something of their own genealogytheir family trees. During the month of May, you and your classroom can explore how scientists worldwide are embarking on ambitious studies to trace the genealogy of all living things and construct the Tree of Life.
From spiders to birds and dinosaurs, learn how Field Museum scientists are participating in international collaborations to identify relationships between species and document this Tree of Life.

Pre-K and higher
Learn which animals live in city houses, apartments, or parks and vacant lots. You will recognize many of the insect and animal specimens from the Chicago area.

Woodland Plants
Middle school or higher
Plant specimens, color slides, and a book highlight woodland plants in Illinois. Use a plant press to make pressed-plant specimens. Visuals show Museum botanists doing research in the field.
