Among our biggest projects this year are two that Kathryn's been working on. Starting last summer, she began selecting representative sheets of species found in the "First Catalogue of the Flora of Acre, Brazil," by Silveira and Daly (2008), to fill in the species we didn't already have. Finishing that, she's now pulling representative specimens of species listed in the Manual de Plantas de Costa Rica (Hammel et al. 2003+).
As I go through these and check the det's, I notice that certain genera or families in the RRC haven't been well-scanned yet - which explains why we don't have scans of some species, so I'm pulling these specimens from the RRC as I go. Some day, that will be done I hope, but -- it's hard to fathom with a human brain how many species are out there!
