History is an asset that can bring people together and creates pride in place. The region is rich in industrial and labor history. The communities rally behind preserving their rich heritage, teaching the region's past to their children and new-comers the through festivals and performances. Industry, ethnicity, local history and activism play huge roles in resident identity. Communities and individuals have developed numerous ways to celebrate these identities and keep traditions alive and evolving through future generations.
