Slag Valley / Veterans Park
Veteran's Park runs from 95th Street on the north to the Chicago & Western Indiana Railroad on the east, 106th Street on the south and Torrence Avenue on the west. Vets' Park is physically separated from Jeffrey Manor by rail line.
- On the southern edge of Vets' Park is Slag Valley, which runs south of 100th St. along Commercial Avenue to the west of Torrence Avenue. Slag Valley was named as such because that was where Wisconsin Steel dumped their slag.
- Vets' Park is mainly populated by white residents; however, there are an increasing number of Latinos settling in Slag Valley.
