English-language resources on Chinese rubbings have become more widely available in recent years as institutions have begun making their collections available via the Internet. The following is a partial list of Chinese rubbings databases and resources currently on the Internet.
CHINESE RUBBINGS WEBSITES and DATABASES
The University of California at Berkeley's East Asian Library is home to one North America's most extensive collections of rubbings.
Harvard's Fine Arts Library has been working for the past few years on conserving and digitally photographing their extensive collection of rubbings.
The National Library of China is home to an extensive collection of rubbings, with more than 230,000 works spanning 3,000 years.
The Peking University Library boasts one of the largest collections of rubbings in China, most of which are available to the public through their extensive on-line catalog.
BOOKS and TEXTUAL RESOURCES on CHINESE RUBBINGS
Several major English-language books on Chinese rubbings are currently in various stages of publication. In the meantime, UC Berkeley maintains an extensive bibliography of available academic texts on their Chinese rubbings website.
The Library of Congress also maintains an extensive East Asian Collection, which includes a number of books on rubbings, as well as an in-depth resources page on other East Asian Libraries in the United States.
CHINESE RUBBINGS EXHIBITIONS
In the past five years, several exhibitions on Chinese rubbings or featuring rubbings have taken place in the United States, Canada, China, and Japan.
