Lake Kivu Fishing Boat

A loan fishing boat near Idjwi Island, July 2001. Fish are a primary protein source in the region. Because of its young age (ca 10,000 years), the fish fauna of Lake Kivu is dipauperate. Most of the fishing in the lake is for a small fish (Limnothrissa miodon) introdiced from Lake Tanganyika.
