The CRSN, Lwiro station can be reached via Rwanda. There are numerous international flights into Kigali. One can also travel by land from Uganda, crossing through Rwanda. From Kigali, there is a reasonably good paved road that goes to Cyangugu, Rwanda, which lies on the southern shores of Lake Kivu, just across the Ruzizi River from Bukavu, D.R.C. Much of this road passes through heavily populated agricultural land with several major towns including Butare, site of an important regional university. It also passes by the National Museum of Rwanda. In the last third of the trip, the road passes through Nyungwe forest, a spectacular piece of the eastern Albertine Rift. In this forest, which is soon to be declared a national park, one is likely to see black-and-white Colobus Monkeys (Colobus polykomos) or L'Hoest's Monkeys (Cercopithicus l'hoesti) foraging by the side of the road. The road also passes a large montane swamp that hosts a large population of Grauer's Brush Warbler (Bradypterus graureri). This road may provide the easiest access to Albertine Rift forest anywhere.
