Planning a field trip to the Museum? Download a field trip registration form here. And be sure to register your students for one of these exciting opportunities during your visit:

Field of Wonder Workshop: Dinosaurs (Grades pre-K-2)
Walk in the footsteps of dinosaurs, compare meat-eating and plant-eating dinosaur teeth, create dinosaur art and size up some popular dinosaurs.  This interactive hands-on program gives young students an opportunity to explore these amazing creatures.
Mondays and Fridays, September 6-December 16, 2005
10:15am and 11:15am
Free with field trip registration

The Great Fossil Hunt (Grades 3-8)
Find out what it takes to be a paleontologist! Students will learn about the process of fossilization as they search the floor of The Field Museum for fossils. Then they'll unearth and prepare fossilized creatures for display as they theorize about ancient life and discover what fossils can tell us about the past.
Monday through Friday, 10am-1pm
$3 per Chicago student, $4 for non-Chicago students
This class also available in your classroom. Call 312.665.7548 for more information.

To prepare students for their trip, take advantage of the activities and information provided in the Dinosaur Dynasty Educator Guide, available here May 2, 2005.

Or put dinosaur fun and fossils into the hands of your students by borrowing one of these Experience Boxes for your classroom. Visit the Harris Educational Loan Center Web site to reserve these boxes now.

Dinosaurs and Their Times: Jurassic
Students will use informative books, a Jurassic Era backdrop and tiny dinosaur models—including Apatosaurus, Diplodocus, Brachiosaurus, Stegosaurus, and Allosaurus—to recreate a scenario from the Jurassic.

Dinosaurs and Their Times: Cretaceous
Students can create their own interactive scenarios by placing models of various Cretaceous Era dinosaurs—Tyrannosaurus, Maiasaura, and Triceratops—into a classroom diorama. They can even handle touchable casts of a Tyrannosaurus tooth and claw, included in the box.
