Dr. Greg Mueller and Dr. Rick Ree, Botany Curators, are currently investigating the distribution of mushrooms and plants across China. Their work will help us understand what it takes to preserve species—and the Earth's diversity—before they are lost forever.
Anthropologists Dr. Anne Underhill, Associate Curator; Dr. Gary Feinman, Curator and Department Chair; and Linda Nicholas, Adjunct Curator; assisted by Dr. Deborah Bekken, Adjunct Curator and Dr. Ryan Williams, assistant curator; are analyzing results from excavations at a 4,000-year-old regional center in Shandong and are surveying to locate settlements that date as far back as 6,500 years. Visit Expeditions@fieldmuseum to see e-mails and digital images from the field about their surveys.
Dr. Chuimei Hu, Adjunct Curator of Anthropology, and Dr. Bennet Bronson, Curator of Anthropology, are exploring ancient pottery-making sites in Fujian to understand when the modern economic era started.
