After collecting specimens of plants, fungi, and animals in the wild, Field Museum scientists and collaborators return to the Museum’s Pritzker Laboratory for Molecular Systematics and Evolution to begin analyzing the specimens’ DNA. This process involves freezing samples, extracting DNA and amplifying it, sequencing genes, and finally, analyzing the data.
