Erin Griffin Sackett-Hermann
Research Assistant, Pritzker Lab
Erin Sackett-Hermann is the primary technician for the Pritzker Lab, which means she gets to be involved with pretty much every project. Her role is to provide technical support to all the lab users: graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and research scientists at The Field Museum or another institution.
She also carries out all aspects of DNA sequencing for a multitude of organisms that are the research focus of four curators from the Zoology (Division of Birds) and Botany Departments. Her projects include helping Associate Curator Richard Ree decipher the diversity of some Himalayan plants; working with Associate Curator Shannon Hackett on her project to determine the family tree of birds; and assisting Associate Curator John Bates with sequencing the DNA of African birds to assess how threatened they might be.
