Soil Adventure Mobile (SAM) Programs

The Secrets of Soil and Underground Critters
Discover how soil scientists study the four “ingredients” of soil. Compare and contrast soil textures and learn why soil is important to plants and people. Learn the secrets of soil “recyclers” and interact with live decomposers (worms, millipedes, beetles, and other invertebrates).
* Identify critters that live in prairie soils and practice scientific observation skills. preK-12th grade

*SAM visits with live animals are subject to weather and traveling conditions.

Soil Life under a Microscope
Get up close with beetles, earthworms, other soil invertebrates, and soil particles. A great way to introduce microscope skills and dazzle your students with the intricacy of Earth’s smallest creatures! 5th-8th grade
