Customize a workshop just for your staff! Meet with Museum educators to learn the ins and outs of planning your visit and find out how Museum resources can support your curriculum.
Based on your needs, we'll arrange for you to explore an exhibition with one of our Museum educators and discuss how to use field trips to effectively reinforce classroom instruction. Along the way, youll learn more about best practices in museum education, exhibitions and resources. Youll also visit the Harris Educational Loan Center to discover exciting resources that can help bring topics about nature and human cultures to life. Although the in-service workshops highlight Field Museum resources, the techniques you learn will be useful in planning any field trip.
New! We understand how difficult it might be to find the time to come to The Field Museum, so well come to your school! Museum staff can customize an in-service around your needs and bring the treasures of our collections into your classroom. Teachers will gain a better understanding of our exhibitions, resources, and programs available to help plan the next visit, or next unit.
Please note: Off-site in-service sessions will incur a mileage fee above and beyond the workshop fee.
In-service workshops are typically two to three hours and are available in the morning or afternoon. To get the most out of the day, we recommend allowing your staff to explore the Museum independently for at least an hour before or after the workshop.
Programs are available for any educational institution or group, subject to time and space availability.
