Perhaps the most famous and influential of Charles R. Knight’s paintings is this classic confrontation between Triceratops (left) and Tyrannosaurus (right).

Most classical reconstructions illustrate Tyrannosaurus walking upright, with its tail dragging along behind it. However, scientists now think that Tyrannosaurus walked with the backbone nearly horizontal and the tail carried off the ground in a manner very similar to that painted by Knight.
