Welcome to The Field Museums temporary exhibitions database. Since its inception, the Museum has hosted a variety of traveling exhibitions, conceived a number of temporary exhibitions, and consistently updated permanent parts of the Museum. People are always interested in learning about our exhibition history, so weve put together this database as a good resource for starting research on a particular topic. The database contains information on all exhibitions that have been on display at the Museum since 1930. Inasmuch as possible, we have included details about the exhibitions: running dates, organizers, sponsors, location, and a summary of the exhibitions purpose. From this page you can search by either year (e.g. 1996) or keyword (e.g. Egypt). Searching by keyword will search all entry fields, so even if its not part of the title, the search will produce all exhibitions with the keyword in the entry. Exhibition entries may also include negative numbers of any exhibition pictures that already exist on the Museums internal photo database.
The data are the property of The Field Museum and are not to be repackaged or sold in any form without proper permissions. We expect users of our data to acknowledge The Field Museum in publications, and we request that users send The Field Museum copies of all publications that use our data. For permission to use pictures, please email your request to Jerice Barrios at photos@fieldmuseum.org.
This database will be updated every year by members of the exhibitions department. If you find errors or have further questions, please contact Marie Georg at mgeorg@fieldmuseum.org, or at 312.665.7378.
