Inside Ancient Egypt

In Pharaonic Egypt, a preoccupation with the Afterlife revealed a strong desire for continuing vitality. Entering Inside Ancient Egypt, visitors follow the twin themes of death and life through architecture, art, technology, religion, and daily existence. On this journey they experience the contradictions of a society of elites, bureaucrats, and slaves, where women and men were legally equal and where diverse religions and ethnic groups were welcomed and assimilated. Watching the evolution of burial customs and their material reflections, they see the transformation of ancient Egyptian culture from feudal to democratic.
