Inside Ancient Egypt, visitors can
  • Explore the mastaba of Unis-ankh, climb to the tomb's roof to see a mummy hidden below, and descend to find the aftermath of robbers;
  • Read a Book of the Dead—a guide to the Afterworld—surrounded by coffins and buried objects of gold, shell, alabaster, and lapis;
  • Draw water in a marsh along the life-giving Nile;
  • Visit a temple centered on a bronze statue of the goddess Bastet (in her incarnation as a cat);
  • Become an Egyptian of the Old Kingdom (ca. 2450 B.C.) in a Memphis marketplace; and try on other roles in this society of rebirth.
