| In 1997, scientists from The Field Museum rediscovered this long-lost
cave and began investigations as part of a broad collaboration
with the Kenya Wildlife Service and the National Museums of Kenya.
This partnershipthe Tsavo Initiativefocuses on crucial connections
between humans and wildlife, and between biological and cultural
riches and conservation. These linkages, and the dynamic history
of Tsavo's environments, are the foundation for collections, exhibits,
public education, and training. Through a comprehensive research
program, the initiative will put new knowledge of the area's natural
and cultural diversity to work for conservation. |
