Training Programs in Africa

Museum scientists incorporate field training into their research projects and have been instrumental in creating two formal training programs in Africa. Training in Africa is a reciprocal undertaking. From Nigerian ethnobotany to Kenyan archaeology and bird conservation, Museum scientists depend on the biodiversity knowledge of local communities. Examples of these opportunities are

  • Participation of Malagasy and U.S. students in paleontological work in Madagascar, and of East African biologists in bird and mammal surveys in the Ruwenzoris and the Eastern Arc Mountains.
