- Contributions of Museum staff to the development of resources
at African museums, universities, and protected areas. In Tanzania,
Uganda, and Madagascar, this technical assistance ranges from
the housing of collections to the creation of bilingual, electronic
databases for mammal identification. In Ghana, Museum staff assisted
with the design of an interpretive center for Kakum National Park.
- A training program for East African research biologists and land
managers at the Institute of Environment and Natural Resources
at Uganda's Makerere University. Participants learn field and
laboratory techniques, have opportunities to seek advanced degrees
at Makerere or abroad, and disseminate information on critical
conservation areas to Ugandan and international decision makers.
