Which legendary baseball announcer became famous for singing Take Me Out to the Ball Game during the seventh-inning stretch?

Born and raised in St. Louis, Harry Caray (1914-1998) began his career as an announcer with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1945. In 1971 he came to Chicago to become the radio voice for the White Sox. In 1976 Caray first sang Take Me Out to the Ball Game to the crowd at Comiskey Park during the seventh-inning stretch.

Harry Caray went cross-town to announce for the Cubs in 1982. He never missed a game during his first 41 seasons as a broadcaster, and announced more than 8,300 games during his career. Caray died in 1998 having seen his son, Skip, and grandson, Chip, follow in his footsteps to become broadcasters themselves. Caray was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1990, and a touching statue of him singing to the crowd was unveiled outside Wrigley Field in 1999.
