When we gain prestige, whether through our good deeds, lofty social status or just plain hard work, we may choose to show it with possessions our society deems valuable: a fancy hat, a gold watch, a feather crown.
But what is it about a gold watch that expresses prestige? And how about that feather crown? An object may convey prestige depending on:
- how much time went into making it
- how much effort went into making it
- how rare are the materials its made from
Would you say that you have prestige?
Or do you know someone who does? What tells you so?
Click on the outlined objects above to learn more about them.
