An Inventory of Costa Rican Plants
Bill Burger
Costa Rica

What lives in a Costa Rican rainforest? For Costa Rica, as well as for many parts of the world, we have very little information about the plants and animals that are important in the local ecology. Yet we need this information to make sound conservation decisions. Bill Burger is helping survey and describe the flowering plants that occur in Costa Rica - estimated at nearly 9,000 species - so the country's natural resources can be managed more effectively.

Bill Burger was born in New York City and studied at Columbia University, Cornell University, and Washington University.
