Life In The Americas

Titanotheres
(25k jpeg)

These Are Not Dinosaurs

These animals are mammals. Just like you, they're more closely related to mice than to dinosaurs. They lived in North America 25 million years after the last dinosaur had become extinct--that's still 40 million years before today!

Titanotheres only look like rhinos

They're big, they eat plants, they've even got horns on their noses - but they aren't rhinos! These are titanotheres (tie-TAN-oh-theer means "gigantic beast").
