Shovel & Sieve Many of the bivalves needed for BivAToL live in shallow water but lie buried below the surface of soft sand, mud, and seagrass beds. The most effective way to collect these bivalves is to shovel sediment into a coarse-meshed sieve and wash the sediment away. photo © P. Mikkelsen
