Field Dispatch 14. Wed, 26 Jun 2002 The Close of the Season We are closing out what has been a very successful field season. By tomorrow, only Linda and I will remain from the North American crew in Mitla. By mid-week, we will be leave Mitla for Oaxaca City where we will attend the Third Monte Albán Roundtable. This week we completed our analysis and illustrations of the excavated materials before we boxed all of the artifacts up for storage in Matatlán. In all, we brought 54 cartons of material to the town center for safekeeping. At this time, we spoke with the town authorities about some day finding suitable space to display some of the more complete and interesting pieces in a community museum so that the local people could learn more about the rich history of their ancestors. continue >>
