Sampling Plots Permanent sampling plots have been established in each of the forest types that we are surveying. Each plot is 1000 square meters (roughly 1/4 acre) in size. All of the mushrooms and related fungi found within these plots are collected and analyzed several times each year. photo © G. Mueller
