Scanning Electron Microscope
Back at the Field Museum, we use state-of-the-art equipment such as the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to study the specimens that we obtained in the field. This is an image of the spore-bearing cell, the basidium, releasing a spore these structures can only be seen under high magnification.
