A Summary of the Expedition

After our return to Chicago, it's time to take stock of the summer's results and evaluate our prospects for next year. We drove over 4000 miles and prospected many miles of Cretaceous outcrop in the hottest weather ever recorded in Wyoming. Happily, everyone returned safely and we suffered no major break-downs of our vehicles or equipment. Personally, I am satisfied having led my first expedition as a Field Museum curator without mishaps.

Scientifically, we did reasonably well. Although we did not find any of the articulated, complete skeletons that populate a paleontologist's dreams in inverse proportions to their actual numbers, we located some potentially productive horizons in the Cloverly and Morrison Formations to target for next year.
