Caring for a Collection

The Fossil Mammal Collection at The Field Museum is an important resource for both national and international scientific research. But with almost 60,000 catalogued specimens, looking after each section of this diverse collection goes beyond just general maintenance. Meet Ken Angielczyk, Associate Curator of Paleomammalogy, and Bill Simpson, McCarter Collections Manager of Fossil Vertebrates, for a behind-the-scenes look at the care that goes into maintaining the nonmammalian synapsid collection - which includes ancestors of mammals and relatives of mammals that are now extinct - at The Field Museum in this four part video series.
