Over 40 Green networkers learned the value of trails

Focused on networking, education, and socializing, Green Drinks has helped many people find employment, make friends, develop new ideas, seal deals, and have moments of serendipity. It is a force for good, and The Field Museum's Division of Environment, Culture, and Conservation (ECCo) is happy to help the Calumet Stewardship Initiative bring it to the Chicago Southland.

The fourth bi-monthly Chicago Southland Green Drinks was held on September 14 at the Fifth Quarter Tap in Homewood and drew over 40 attendees representing business, non-profits, academia, government, and interested residents. Steve Buchtel, currently of Active Transportation Alliance and Trails for Illinois, held the audience rapt with his stories, jokes, and brilliant vision of a trail-rich region that helps us all.

First organized in England, Green Drinks events are now hosted in over 750 cities around the world. Every Green Drinks is different, but they all have their roots in simple, organic, and self-organizing collections of people interested in environmental issues.

The next Chicago Southland Green Drinks will be held on November 10th, 2011 at Argus Brewery Tap Room in the Pullman neighborhood of Chicago. For information please contact Erika Hasle
