September 2010 -- Seventy conservationists from all over the US came to Chicago for an intense five-day training to learn about Great Lakes conservation issues: clean water, invasive species (including Asian carp), restoration, green jobs, climate change. These civic-minded volunteers are among the most effective spokespeople for conservation and the environment. ECCo and C&R joined forces to tour the group of 70 to important sites in Calumet that highlight our conservation work in the region, including the BP Whiting Plant, the Indiana Harbor Canal Bridge, Powderhorn Lake, William Powers State Park, Harborside International Golf Center, and Hegewisch Marsh.
