The Field Museum's Division of Environment, Culture, and Conservation (ECCo) was excited to help organize and host the second Chicago Southland Green Drinks at the Maple Tree Inn located in Blue Island, IL. The event drew over 35 attendees representing business, non-profits, academia, government, and interested residents. The program was focused on highlighting green projects in the community of Blue Island.
First organized in England, Green Drinks events are now hosted in over 750 cities around the world. Every Green Drinks is different, but they all have their roots in simple, organic, and self-organizing collections of people interested in environmental issues. Focused on networking, education, and socializing, Green Drinks has helped many people find employment, make friends, develop new ideas, seal deals, and have moments of serendipity. It is a force for good, and The Field Museum is happy to help the Calumet Stewardship Initiative bring it to the Chicago Southland.
The next Chicago Southland Green Drinks will be held on July 7th, 2011 at Harborside International Golf Center in Chicago, IL. For questions please contact Erika Hasle.
