Planning a Field Trip

Plan a field trip to the Grainger Hall of Gems and try out classroom and field trip activities from the Educator Guide, take part in student programs, and check out accompanying Harris Educational Loan Materials for an in-depth exploration of topics related to gems.

Pre-registration is required for students to visit this new exhibition. Field trips to the Grainger Hall of Gems are FREE for Chicago schools with pre-registration, $4.50 for Illinois schools outside of Chicago with pre-registration, and $18.00 for schools outside of Illinois.

The Field Museum invites educators of all subjects and grades to join us for a celebration of the 2009-2010 school year. Visit behind-the-scenes with scientists, discover new and exciting ways to use Field Museum resources in your classroom, participate in dynamic break-out sessions and delve into hands-on activity stations. Explore our permanent exhibitions including the newly-renovated Grainger Hall of Gems. The first 300 educators will receive tickets to our newest temporary exhibition. Gather a wealth of information and materials to start your school year off right. Earn 4 CPDUs.

Rocks and Minerals Experience Box, Elementary Grades
