Art and Science Spotlight
Be an explorer, scientist, artist and much more! Take part in fun-filled art and science activities in The Crown Family PlayLab. Hear a storytelling performance, meet a Field Museum scientist, or work with Chicago artists to create your own masterpiece.
Every 3rd Saturday of the month.
11am - 2pm
Free with Basic admission.
Meet the Teens@TheField! Practice scientific skills through observation and hands-on activities while learning about science with our summer teen volunteers.
Do you like to make music? Come to the Playlab and learn how to turn recyclable materials into musical instruments. Add everyday items like beans, rice and bobby pins to form a unique sound. Later, have a dance party in the music room as you shake, rattle and roll your original creation.
Young naturalists and their families are invited to the Crown Family PlayLab to learn about the conservation of Monarch butterflies and other locally endangered species. Field Museum scientists will be on hand to display butterfly and bird specimens from our collections. Learn why migration patterns are so important to the success of ecosystems and their impact on extinction. Later, join us in the art studio for butterfly creations and stick around for a Monarch butterfly release outside our Museum doors!
