Jonzi D has been actively involved in British Hip Hop culture, rapping and b-boying in clubs and on the streets since its inception in the early 1980's. A graduate of the London Contemporary Dance School (1992), Jonzi has made enormous contributions to the development of hip hop culture, contemporary performance and the intersection between the two. Jonzi D is the UK pioneer of Hip Hop Theatre and the Artistic Director of Still Brock Productions, one of Britain's most significant emerging international companies. It is impossible to try and 'box' Jonzi D: MC, poet, writer, actor and activist; choreographer; director & theatre maker; event promoter; producer; teacher and philosopher. An innovative and pioneering spirit who pushes the boundaries of his art forms and genre, inspiring artists, choreographers, producers, directors, but most significantly his own community. Jonzi's one-person show entitled Aeroplane Man represents a groundbreaking combination of political and social commentary. He astutely addresses issues of black identity, hip hop culture and race all from the perspective of an international hip hop practitioner. Recently featured in London and New York at hip hop theatre festivals, Jonzi's work resides at the cutting edge of hip hop performance.
